Hello everyone.

I recently purchased the Paul Harris True Astonishment DVD set, and on the video it suggests that i am suppose to receive two gaff cards for the Growing Card illusion (one red and one blue) but i only have red. (which is a problem cause i tend to only use blue bicycles and all my other gaffs are in blue)

Is this normal? or am i really suppose to be receiving a blue gaff as well.

I received two red (but no blue). If If you purchased from the Astonishment Project, give Jason Messina an email; I am sure he would send out a blue one.

Now I don't have to buy it.

riki,

Are you saying the two posts above yours are somehow revealing something significant(that a gaffed card is used)? What secret exactly was revealed?

The advertisement for the True Astonishment probably even states that you receive the gaff for this (and many other tricks).

If you think that you wouldn't have to "buy it" now because you know that a gaffed card is used, I guess I disagree.

You missed the point.

Time that REAL magicians get serious about leaking secrets (no matter how insignificant).

This needs to stop. Its like saying "... I did not recieve the thumb tip for the vanishing cigarette.
This is how that question should have been posted (or better yet, ask it from sales staff from where he got it)I recently purchased the Paul Harris True Astonishment DVD set, and I did not recieve everything.
I do not believe Mr. Harris would appreciate ANY part of his magic secret, no matter how insignificant, being exposed. Do you? I know I would not. But then he should not be selling his secrets anyways. Its giving away the trick.

If you think that you wouldn't have to "buy it" now because you know that a gaffed card is used, I guess I disagree.
You do not know me to make a statement like that for one. And I have a high skill level of card magic (not xcm I am sorry to say) to the point that I can recognize  card "magicians" not handling cards normally, akwardly - thus giving away the secret in itself.  That is why noobs "ask" where and how to get a trick, and the true magicians figure it out for them selves. So whether you believe I can learn the trick w/o purchasing it - with that information - is a reflection of your skill level. Not mine

riki,

I offended you, I apologize. I certainly did not mean to imply ANYTHING about your skills as a magician. At the same time, I find it curious that you are willing to make judgements on my skills as a magician based on an internet forum post.

That being said, you sure are quick to condescend to others (implying that others who disagree with you are not "REAL" magicians or "true" magicians).

You and I seriously disagree on something I guess: you would have no magicians releasing effects (if I understand you right) and you seem to believe that anyone interested in buying such products are somehow "noobs".

I on the other hand am appreciative of those who have released material. In my mind there are numerous "REAL" magicians who have done so. By the way, I think it is more ethical to actually pay the creator rather than figuring it out on your own.

Hi riki

If you are watching magicians on Youtube, on TV or live performance then you are learning from them, even if it's subconsciously. If you want to develop your own sleights without the use of the wealth of published material that's out there then that's fine, but aren't you doing it the hard way? Don't you feel that it would be interesting to read the books from the great thinkers and creators of magic, wouldn't it help you to be more creative if you read about how they think?

The books are out there and it's entirely your decision whether or not you choose to buy them but I don't understand why you feel it's wrong for magicians to publish them and for other people to read them, if that's how they choose to develop their creative thinking.

ETA: This is in reply to your last post, the page has refreshed as I posted and I now see that you have removed it.
