yea i got that dvd a while back and it was well worth the money ...however its basically like the dvd 20 ways to force a card
you really only need to know a few changes to get started in my oppinion because although they look magical its best to use them in a routine
so heres what i think
Erdnase color change
clip change
mabye the spin change
the ego change is nice to have and garcias dvds are worth the money, i highly recommend his project series
and really that should get you started out
i like the spin change as well but i dont use it much

Regarding the spin change, I think Lee Asher's revolutionary change has better angles, you may want to check it out at his site.

If you are not good enough to devise your own color changes (or any effect), you should try another craft. I do not believe the great magicians of our past went around looking for people to show them how to create an effect. Can you imagine Houdini asking for help on an escape? or the great Cardini asking someone how to fan a deck of cards (for those of you who are too young, Cardini did all his card sleights with gloves on)
Magic of ANY type does not need copy cats.
I know that post is old, but c'mon guys. REALLY!? You wanna be a magician, create your own effect (and then don't sell it so it remains a mystery).

riki, your logic is flawed. There can be a difference between a performer and a creator of magical effects. Would you say that David Copperfield, Lance Burton, or Doug Henning are/were "good enough?" Well, in addition to doing classic well known effects, all of them have used consultants and illusion designers to come up with the feats they perform. It is also well documented that performers such as Vernon and Cardini did effects that they did not create themselves, in addition to the techniques and effects that they did invent. By your reasoning, are you suggesting that no one should perform the miser's dream or the cups and balls? If I want to perform a color change why not use one of the many varieties out there? There are probably too many that exist now. You want to reinvent the wheel, knock yourself out. But don't knock someone else who would like to further himself in the art and is asking advice on finding the proper resources to do so.
My point is, there are creators and performers. Some magicians are both, some do one or the other. There is room for everyone, and there are many talented magicians out there who have not invented a thing. It would be a loss to the magic world if they found another craft.
