Flash paper is safe if used properly, but you have to use sun glasses while using it or else your eyes harden up for a good week and a half .....

As many of the other magicians here have already said, Flash paper, pads, string, powder etc. can be a very safe, and useful magic utility if used correctly.
Keep your flash paper burning at its maximum by spraying it with water about a day before a show - this is how they are packaged, so don't worry. It will allow the paper to burn quickly, thus, safer.
Make sure you let go of the Flash paper before it gets down to your fingers - it does burn (but is not "dangerous" as such). But be careful, don't throw it too soon, it is light and can fly, it may head towards a spectator, and though it will most probably burn itself out by then, it is "dangerous", and will give the spectator the "wrong type" of shock!
Finally, don't be stupid with it - it is essentially pyrotechnic substances - they are to be used sensibly only - in this way, the dangers are very minimal.
Just again, Flash products are very safe and useful if used correctly,
Hope this helps, and get back to us,
Ryan

| Totally not dangerous. Not more dangerous than a cigerette lighter. Obviously a kid shouldnt be playing with it though.
