I just fiinished watching this on TV. I must say I was very dissapointed...and really bored. No buildup, nothing original. Atleast Copperfield escaped from inside a safe, which added some mystery. The appearance at the end wasn't magical (or entertaining) at all. Watching him work a lock near the roof for nearly 2 minutes was annoying.

I usually like some of the things Criss does, but this was a huge bummer.

Now I see the next show, escaping while being tied to the back of an ATV. OK, this one looks interesting...

Yeah, I didn't love it either.  But I have to say I usually enjoy the episodes of his show, although usually the big stunt at the end is not of interest to me as was the case here.  I just want to see the magic.  The escapes just don't do it for me, with rare exceptions.

In this case I am sure he never intended to get on that helicopter.  The mystery would be how he would survive being inside the building as it imploded.  I agree that it was anticlimactic the way they just show him appear walking toward the camera.  You don't see where he actually came from.  I also find it hard to believe that he will be able to keep his promise to never do another dangerous stunt again.  That's his whole thing, pushing the envelope and all that.  We'll see.

I wish Cris would stick to magic and give up the stunts.  The worst was being dragged behind an atv in the dirt, geeze.   At Bike Week my friends used to take turns being pulled down the street in a lawn chair pulled behind a Harley. The best was when a guys pants caught on fire from all the sparks flying from the metal scraping the road.  Now That's excirement!!!!!   thanks, Glen

I tuned out after season 1. I did however catch the rerun after you wrote the post and couldn't make it 5 minutes into the show. I'm not sure what these guys are trying to accomplish but I can smell the narcissism emanating from the TV set.

The TV show starts off saying "The illusions were designed by Criss Angel"

     Really?

In those 5 minutes, the announcer claimed that :

"Criss Angel has CLEARLY identified himself as the greatest living mystifier and entertainer"

Now that in itself made me laugh out loud, but the next line was

"After tonight, he very likely will surpass Houdini as the greatest magician of all time"

HA HA HA HA.

Come on Criss, put a shirt on and step off your cloud. How about throwing some credit to the people who actually design your illusions. How about showing some support to the rest of the magic community? Maybe some interstitials featuring other great modern magicians? Lance Burton performed his cards and cigarette routine (which was brutally butchered in editing by the way) in the first season, what happened to this? Certainly I would think that would make some good publicity for these performers as well as add variety to your show. We're all very happy for you and your success, but I for one, think you're polluting the art with all your 'bling bling' and weird bandanas and strange tendencies to put camera lenses in your mouth.

*blink* So yeah, no I didn't watch it.

I've just watched this now here, I'm not impressed either. I had a feeling from the beginning that the helicopter would leave without him. It took him about 20 seconds to pick the lock on the first hand cuff and free himself from the railings but then he wasted another 20 seconds taking off the other cuff. lol

By the time he had effortlessly kicked his way through the umm.. safety glass he'd lost me completely.

I've got to admit though that he knows how to sell himself, he never seems to run out of hype.

I didn't watch it, though I did manage to see upwards of ten commercials for the show, each having clips from the "live" show to be broadcast later.

Where is he pushing the envelope?, I'm sure he was out of the building long before it emploded and had somebody rub dirt all over him for the appearance, but that's show biz.      Heck they can even make a giant monkey climbing the Empire State building look real.

On the plus side, has anyone seen his guest appearance on CSI : New York? It wasn't half bad.

Actually there are a couple of things that annoyed me, like when he did the butterfly from a piece of paper trick with a camera cut in the middle and when they reused the footage for the burned alive illusion he did very early on in his series. Business deal much?

But aside from that, he did a good job. Nice acting and stuff. Especially stuff.

Now that you mention it, it's not just you. Thanks for the laugh.
