Let's not forget U.F. Grant's version, which is 100% impromptu, in that there is no setup.

Further on the OOTW, Lennart Green's got a pretty good way to setup as well, and it's done under the guise of showing how fairly shuffled the deck is.
Granted, that setup can add some extra time to the effect...

I think I am getting a lot of things mixed up here. I do a version of Out of This World but I'm not sure if Paul Curry did it or not. The pack has to be set up but if the person shuffles I'll be screwed......
How does your version of Out of this World go?
And I got a cool "mentalist" trick that involves them picking a card and then you giving it a name such as John and then you show him a card with the name on. It is so simple a child could do it and it really gets them, they can't believe it. But it involves a setup.....
Please tell me if I'm doing the right out of this world? Or how yours goes
