| So what you mean is there is no impromptu and gimmicked effect possible in a video, right?

There is no spoon.
Impromptu: 1.Made or done without previous preparation.
2.Suddenly or hastily prepared.
3.Improvised.
A gimmick is a gimmick is a gimmick in theory if you have prepared the gimmick beforehand it could not be described as impromptu however if you have the gimmick already prepared eg a thumb tip already on your thumb I think it could be described as impromptu. So yes an impromptu trick is still impromptu even if you use a gimmick.

Well...it looks like everyone has different definitions for these words. Actually I completely agree with Rob.
But isn't it better to just get one kind of meanings for these words? We could get rid of all bad thoughts about descriptions of coming videos that way...

You can video any effect. But wether it's called gimmicked or impromptu has to do with its performance in the real world.
