Depending on what you are going to use it for exactly, the following can be useful:
chapstick, beeswax, wax from a wax-ring for sealing toilets, sticky tack, a SMALL piece of double stick tape

| maybe some chewing gum or sticky tack. Beeswax is very cheap at the craft store. If you buy Ammar's wax it should last you a long long time.

| Thank you for the reply. I think I can use your idea about Bees Wax and cut it with some chapstick.

| no. Go to the craftstore. Look in the candle making section. There is a ingredient that they miz with raw beezwax to make candles. If you ask they will know exactly what your talking about. Its almost identical. To me its is identicale to magicians wax. Googd luck.

I think I understand. It is not the beeswax, but the other ingredient that is used in making beeswax candles. Wow, thanks that hint. Whe the nearest supply store is over 1 1/2 hours away, it is not easy to get supplies that you run our of (or in my case -lose). My thanks to all. Marcus

What exactly is this Magic Wax everyone speaks of? I heard about it many times, but never figured out how it's related to magic

Sorry, I just couldn't resist that! It's a very sticky wax which you can use in tiny quantities to stick things together temporarily for magic effects.

Hahaha
I really wanna see one of those "collapsible" doves... Ha that's brilliant
It reminds me of that cartoon video, where when magician produced a dove it always fell down dead on the stage, except the last time ... but then eventually the last dove died too Last edited on 08-03-2006 20:11 by zusulik

| I cant get enough of that mallusionist.com but anyways a triple layer of double sided tape will do the job perfectly, I dont know if gum would be the best because of its color, but give it a shot anyways. Hope it works out.

i use a strong hair gel...it makes the handling of coins a lot easier in an emergency situation...just let it dry first...

Thank you all for your posts and suggestions. I think that now, no matter where I might be, I have options to bail me out when I am asked to perform on the spur of the moment. Also, I have learned some different ways to perform using coins and other ways for IT. - Marcus

The way I was originally taught to make your own magicians wax is really quite simple, I find this works very nicely is as follows:
How to Make Magicians Wax:
This wax, which is repeatedly called for in descriptions of various tricks, this can be made by dissolving by heat in a porcelain dish pure yellow beeswax, and gradually adding pure Venice turpentine, stirring it constantly with a glass rod. Care must be taken that it does not catch fire while it is being mixed. The usual proportion is one part of turpentine to two of wax, but as a great deal depends on the quality of the wax and the turpentine, experiment alone can determine the proportions.
I hope this helpful friend, and be very careful dealing with anything which has to do with using fire in application.
Respectfully,
-Erick Castle

I have been thinking about the hair gel, and I think that I might be able to use hair spray for roughing cards. I just need to buy a can, since I use gel, and start experimenting. This might work for use on a few cards, not the entire deck, to use for such things as a modified Invisible deck.
If you are like me (non-professional) you can't take everything with you, and you realize that a certain trick would really WOW the his particular audience. Having some of these emergency back-ups, not as good as the ones you buy, will work in some situations.
Once again, thank you all for all of your help and suggestions. - Marcus
