Why not just buy a new one. Probably the time involved in making one (assuming you could get the same or better quality) is worth more that the price of a replacement.
Cheers,
Paul

| Making one yourself will take more time and patience than if you are buying a new one indeed. Tell your dad and hope he understands. Usually I make my own gimmicks as well but this one I never tried because it would take that long...

If you really do need one of these gizmos badly enough then I'm sure your dad could be persuaded to let you buy one if you can convince him you will take good care of it this time, and that you will pay for it of course.
Looks like you've got a lot of dishwashing, car cleaning and bin emptying ahead of you in the next few weeks

Simple, first you buy a pen, then you write this down with it:
It is likely going to cost more time, effort AND money to try and make one yourself and your end result will most likely not be very convincing as a pen.
I think what you really need to think about is how to find a way to get the money so you can buy it. Mowing the lawn, clearing the snow out of the driveway, cleaning walls, ceilings, bathrooms. If you're a fast and efficient worker you could get some work from your neighbors.
Its really not my place to say either, but I suspect the real thing your father has against magic, is probably that it is getting in the way of your schoolwork. And if that's the case then the best way for you to convince your dad to get you that pen, is to work hard on your studies. There's a report card coming up (or is it just passed?), you could always make a pact with him, if you increase your average by 5%, you'll get the pen. And it is an awesome thing for you if you raise your average by 5%. If you want to be really schemy about it, your father will also learn that offering you magic items is a good way to keep you working hard on your schoolwork, which is good for you!

truly i dont know why my dad wont let me buy the pen they sell them on ebay and all that stuff. my dad is a good guy but i do magic 24-7. my dad is a big sport guy so doing football, baseball, ice hockeyand ocasionaly paintball and he might think that magic might get in the way of the sports.
but notin he can say that will make me love magic any less. . I normally get A's B's and C's but i will fix my c's. but thanks for the advice

Ok, bud. Don't let minor setbacks stop you. If you like magic, you should explore what other cool tricks can you do. Especially the ones that don't require gimmicks. Especially the ones that get people reactions.
My dad doesn't want me to end up a magician either. But that's not up to him to decide! Not to arise any rebellions or anything... I find time for both: study and magic.
Hope that helps,
Alex

This trick is easily one of my favorites, so when i lost mine in the ocean (don't ask, long story) i was devestated. So i spent a whole saturdaylookingfor the correct parts, which addedup to around £15 (trick costs £10) i decided to leave it the following week i just ordered another andsavedso much time and money and im glad i did. I would advise you do the same, unless you feel against this.

| Hey braves. Firstly your dad got it for you as a present for your birthday. You got to realise that if you want to become a good magician there is going to be some expenditure involved in buying products, gimmicks etc etc. and you need to explain this to your dad. But how much did the pen cost you? ill send you one if you want
