Thanks for your kind comments, SCotsman69!

Two weeks before
the show, I had specifically asked the organisers to provide me with a
headset or a lapel, and they said that it would be available then. On
the night of the performance, they've failed to provide me with one.
So next time, I will need to make confirmations from them that I will
be provided with one!

Just a few short notes on your overall performance. You are indeed a
good performer. You interact well with the audience. You appear to get
a little frustrated at times but thats just nerves and will smooth out
the with more on stage time. One thing that I would highly suggest is
getting yourself either a headset or a lapel microphone. The boom mike
is detracting so much from the act. If you eliminate that distraction
and can keep from having to lean back towards it to be heard you will
find that you are not only more comfortable but you will be able to
interact so much more with the audience/assistants. Just my 2 cents,
but all in al you are well on your way! Bravo.

kickkill, I am left-handed, so I use my left hand to throw the paper
balls.

Aramis, thanks for the advice on non-verbal patter.
Greatly appreciated!

I know there were complications because of the mike, but you need to
address the audience more often. Since you didn't really have time to
go back and forth between your mike, one thing you can do is
communicate with the audience physically.
- In between two paper
balls, turn to them and indicate 'shhht' by placing your finger to
your lips, i.e. Don't tell the girl I'm throwing it over her head./>- Indicate that this time you will make the ball bigger.
-
Display excitement that it's working.
- Indicate you're running
out of paper

and this trick when done does it not , most of the time, have the
magician hims self stage left of the person...? if using the right
hand to throw the ball then shouldn't it not be thrown over her left
shoulder? because then the ball will fly more in v of the poeple in
the crowd

Now...I've got some mixed feelings about this one...there were many things that I shouldn't have done, or I could have done better. It was the last trick for the night, and so I wanted to make a good impression...that night, if my performance was judged by this one trick, then I'd be more of a fool on stage, rather than a 'magician'.

Firstly, I apologise for the lack of sound without a mic. Inside me, I felt empathetic about the other people who couldn't hear what I was saying to my assistant, so I had to primarily use my body language to convey the meaning of the trick.

Secondly, I should have learnt to control my emotions. I just 'took off' at two instances - one was when I got too excited about the giant paper ball, and also about vanishing the shoe and the coat. I drank too much of the reactions of my spectators, and so I went overboard with the giant ball - that's why I had to edit a few sections out because it was a lot of lag time trying to get the ball small enough to be completely covered by my hands. I've tried to increase the pacing of it by adding a few comical remarks here and there, but all in all, it was essentially 'dead time'.

About the vanish of the coat...I think I went too overboard with that one. I didn't think I succeeded in 'fooling' the spectator about the coat vanish, but I was too into the moment to care. I could have gone further (with the chair, if I wanted to) but I thought that it was a good time to end before I made myself look like even more of a fool. But now I know what to do next time...

So that's the end of the show...any tips and advice are welcome!
